David Scrimgeour, Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Boulder, Colorado. Our story goes back to the early 70s when David Scrimgeour began studying Chinese Language and culture as a student in Taiwan. While learning about the Taoists, he became fascinated by how they observed every aspect of nature and lived in harmony with their environment. They discovered many of the healing properties of herbs by noticing how energy moved throughout the body and how herbs influenced this. Certain herbs became known as “superior” because they could strengthen every system in the body, create resistance to disease and improve balance, wisdom and overall adaptability to the stresses of life. The Taoists sought to achieve a long life with heightened physical, mental and spiritual capabilities. Inspired by the Taoists, David dedicated himself to mastering the art and science of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
After studying Chinese language and East Asian Studies in undergraduate school and at graduate school at U.C. Berkeley, David moved to Japan to live and study. Upon returning, he attended the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco and graduated in 1990. He became nationally board certified in Acupuncture and opened a clinical practice in Boulder, Colorado. He has had a busy practice ever since.
The close of his formal training marked the beginning of David’s in-depth search to become a true master of Chinese medicine. This passion led him to read and translate Chinese medical journals and study with some of the great masters from around the world. He also began teaching and training other acupuncturists throughout the country.
Over the past 30 years, David has developed and perfected several formulas for his patients. Each formula had to meet three criteria: it had to be better than anything that was already available, it had to be made of the purest herbs, and it had to have superior healing properties that were confirmed in his clinic. His patients have benefited from these formulas and he is now offering them at Six Persimmons Apothecary. Learn more about David at his website: https://davidscrimgeour.com
